ILTSS is implementing a new centralized automation system called Destiny. This is an integrated library and textbook inventory system. The system’s enhanced features are grouped in modules. These modules are utilized to promote improved technology to enable schools to circulate, inventory, and an analysis of each library book collections and maintain a database and inventory of all District textbooks which keeps a better tracking system of all District instructional resources.
The Textbook Module will improve accountability through inventory reports to help determine which school sites may be losing books as well as assessing the value of books. The Module will be able to reduce replacement cost, identify which schools need what books, and provide a valuable tool in validating all schools as being Williams sufficient. Once all of the schools are on the system, cost savings for the District are expected to exceed $10 million.
